Tag Location Guide

Frigidaire equipment typically displays the model and serial data tag on a manufacturer rating plate. Look for a label that lists "Model" and "Serial" and check common locations by product type: inside doors, behind access panels, on the back panel, or near the compressor / condenser area.

How Frigidaire Encodes Manufacture Dates

Frigidaire is a major American appliance brand owned by Electrolux since 1986. Frigidaire manufactures refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, ranges, washers, and dryers, and also produces appliances sold under the Electrolux brand in North America. Both brands share compatible serial number formats.

Frigidaire serial numbers encode the manufacture date using a single character for the year followed by a two-digit week number. Because a single character represents the year, the code operates on a repeating cycle β€” the same code can represent years in different decades. When the decoder shows two possible years, use the appliance's condition, features, and any available purchase records to confirm the correct decade.

The serial number typically begins with two letters that identify the manufacturing plant and production line, followed by the year code and week digits. The remaining characters encode the production sequence number for that unit.

Where to Find Your Frigidaire Serial Number

  • Refrigerators: Inside the fresh food compartment β€” right or left wall near the top
  • Freezers (upright): Inside near the top of the compartment
  • Freezers (chest): On the inner wall near the lid hinge
  • Dishwashers: Inner edge of the door β€” left side when door is open
  • Ranges: On the frame around the oven door opening
  • Washers: Inside the door opening or on the back panel
  • Dryers: On the door frame or back panel
  • Room Air Conditioners: On the side or back of the unit

Common Mistakes When Decoding Frigidaire Serials

Year code ambiguity. The repeating year cycle is the primary challenge. If the decoded year seems 10 years off from what you expect, the alternate reading is likely correct. A Frigidaire refrigerator with a through-the-door ice dispenser and digital display is almost certainly post-2000, for example.

Confusing Frigidaire and Electrolux serial numbers. If your appliance says "Electrolux" on the front but the label shows a Frigidaire-format serial, use the Frigidaire decoder β€” they share the same format. Electrolux is also available as a direct brand option in the decoder.

Reading the model number instead of the serial number. Frigidaire data labels list both. The serial number is usually a 9-character alphanumeric string beginning with two letters. If you are reading a long string of letters and numbers that describes the product class (like FFHB2750TS), that is the model number.

Electrolux: Appliances sold under the Electrolux brand in North America are manufactured by Frigidaire/Electrolux and use the same serial format. Select Electrolux in the decoder if your appliance shows that brand name.
